Fresh wave of rioting hits Greece

  • More then one rioting in Greece in protest.
  • And one 15 years old teenager had died, named Alexamdros Grigoropoulos.
  • Eight days ago, this teenager was shot and killed by police in Athens.
  • In the capital city, the protesters gathered to target the police station where Grigoropoulos was murdered take place.
  • Regardless the continueing rioting, several peaceful services had been held to remember this teenager.
  • During the protest, at least 70 people had been hurt in this eight days.
  • The Greek Prime Minister, Costas Karamanlis had received many phone calls to ask him and the government to quit.
  • However, Minister Costas Karamanlis states that he will not be controlled by the protestors.

'Worst' ice storm grips America

  • There is a big seriously ice storm in the north east America.
  • More then one million home has no power because of it.
  • Many houses and schools had been damaged and 4 people havd died.
  • People described this incident incident is one of the worst ice storm in this 10 years.
  • Many part of states has declared states of emergency, such as, Massachusetts, New Hampshire and parts of Maine and New York state.
  • This big freeze will be comtinue and people have to wait longer for the power get back.
  • The offcials get more help to deal with the ice and the devastation due to the declaring states of emergency.

Cholera claims lives in Zimbabwe

  • There disease is called cholera and more than 400 people have died in Zimbabwe because of it.
  • And hundreds of people have left the country.
  • Cholera is spread by drinking water. And there is no clean water to drink in this country's capital.
  • The health system does not work efficiently and there have been many problems in Zimbabwe.
  • In fact, cholera is not a difficult to treat, but not enough medicine in Zimbabwe.
  • Although this has been a problem for years, but this time is the worst since 2000.
  • The main cause of this problem is the restrictions placed on what the country is allowed to buy, which is sanctions.
  • A lot of countries, that is including the UK, do not really like and support Zimbabwe President, Robert Mugabe, and others try to force him to give up his role as Zimbabwe's leader by the sanctions in place.

Hope for stranded Thai tourists

  • There is a protest taking place in Bangkok, Thailand.
  • Those protesters had took control of 2 airports, and the airports had to shut down.
  • Because of the shut down, there were many tourists stuck in Thailand.
  • About 40 airplanes had took off from Bangkok, but without any passengers on board.
  • The planes were headed to other airports to pick up stranded people.
  • Because of the protest, there were thousands of passengers been stuck in Thailand for a week.
  • What did those protrsters want? They want the government to resign.
  • There was a deal had been agreed to let 88 planes left Suvarnabhumi Airport.
  • And some governments were arranging special flights to get their people home.
  • Because of this incident, had very bad influence to the holiday business, they think that the number of people planning to go to Thailand would drop 50% in 2009.
  • However, this incident was not the only one protest, there were thousands of people who think the government was doing a good job, marched through Bangkok to show their support.
